CHLORINATED PARAFFINS INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION LAUNCHES WEB SITE

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Chlorinated Paraffins Industry Association (CPIA) launched a new web site (www.regnet.com/cpia), an online resource for information on chlorinated paraffins (CPs).

The web site incorporates information on use and benefits, worldwide regulatory updates, and health and environmental effects of CPs. The web site also contains links to the CP producer companies in North America. The CPIA will regularly update the web site with new developments regarding CPs.

CPs play an important role in a number of industrial applications. The primary application of CPs is in industrial cutting fluids, particularly in the manufacture of automobiles and automobile parts. In addition to their use in cutting oils, CPs are also used in commercial paints, adhesives, sealant and caulks.

BACKGROUND ON CPIA

Established in the late 1970's, CPIA has responded to regulatory and scientific positions of organizations such as the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the National Toxicology Program (NTP), California's Science Advisory Panel under Proposition 65, EPA's Office of Toxic Substances, the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the regulatory bodies in Canada and the Europe Union.

Current members of CPIA include: Dover Chemical Corporation; Ferro Corporation, Petroleum Additives; and, Pioneer Americas, Inc.
